NVIDIA GPU Driver Installation

The NVIDIA binary drivers are not maintained by the Fedora Project and may sometimes not be available for the kernel version included in Fedora.
This will require enabling an external repository.
If you enabled "Third Party Software" (rpmfusion Nonfree) at installation you can skip to Installing.

To game effectively when you have an NVIDIA graphics card, it is necessary for you to install the drivers first

Enabling the external repository (rpmfusion Nonfree)

  • Launch The terminal prompt of your choice

  • Run the following command with a user that has root acess or can use the sudo command

sudo dnf install https://mirrors.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-$(rpm -E %fedora).noarch.rpm https://mirrors.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-$(rpm -E %fedora).noarch.rpm -y

Secure Boot

If you have Secure Boot enabled, you must complete the module signing procedure (generating and enrolling a Machine Owner Key) before installing the akmod. Otherwise, Secure Boot will refuse to load the driver. See the RPM Fusion Secure Boot guide for the procedure.
If Secure Boot is disabled, you can skip to Installing.

You can see if Secure Boot is enabled in your bios, or by checking with the mokutil program.

# Optionally install mokutil
dnf install mokutil
mokutil --sb-state

Installing

  • Run the following command with a user that has root acess or can use the sudo command

sudo dnf install akmod-nvidia -y
It is important to wait a few minutes for the driver to build properly before rebooting
  • Reboot your system to load the driver
