Release Planning Schedule

The following is the template for the Workstation Working Group’s release schedule. It follows the main Fedora release schedule, with additional check-in steps.

The schedule is meant to evolve as we use it, so please update this page as necessary.

  • Development cycle start

    • Put out the call for workstation changes/plans

  • 2 weeks prior to system wide change proposal deadline

    • Check if workstation needs to add any change proposals

  • 2 weeks prior to self-contained change proposal deadline

    • Check if workstation needs to add any change proposals

  • After the post-branch freeze ends

    • Enable new features we want for the next release

    • Plan the GNOME test day (to happen when GNOME beta is ready)

  • 2 weeks prior to beta

    • Generate GNOME Software previews

    • Disable any new features as necessary

  • Immediately after the beta

    • Review the packageset and image size

    • Start planning release marketing, in particular the "what’s new" magazine article

    • Add upgrade artwork to gnome-software

  • Release day

    • Update website content
