Fedora Documentation

Fedora documentation describes how to install and use the Fedora operating system and the software packaged by the Fedora Project. The Fedora Documentation Project only maintains documentation for current versions of Fedora. We provide older documentation on this site for historical interest and to acknowledge the generous contribution of time and effort by many, many writers and translators.

If you would like to contribute to Fedora documentation, visit the Fedora Documentation Project at http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/DocsProject.

Translations are not current being published because of version 1.0 publishing toolchain limitations. We will be enabling this as part of the next phase. For now, please do not open bugs. Instead, please watch for an announcement that will be sent to the translators mailing list. You may also wish to monitor this issue.

In 1997, Richard Stallman wrote:

“The biggest deficiency in free operating systems is not in the software — it is the lack of good free manuals that we can include in these systems.”

We thank everybody who worked hard to correct that deficiency for previous versions of Fedora.
