Excluded software

Certain tools cannot be included in Fedora for various reasons. This page documents these tools and includes suggestions and alternatives for users.

Brian (version 1)

A clock driven simulator for spiking neural networks.

Version 1 is no longer being developed. It also does not support Python 3 and thus cannot be included in Fedora.

Please use Brian2 which is included in Fedora.

HDFView

HDFView is a visual tool for browsing and editing HDF4 and HDF5 files.

It requires certain dependencies to build that cannot currently be included in Fedora. Please see this bug for more information.

The HDF Group provides ready to use binaries for HDFView. Please download them directly from their website. You can use the build for CentOS 7.

Non Free/Open source software

FSL

Library of analysis tools for FMRI, MRI and DTI brain imaging data.

The FSL license prohibits commercial use, and is therefore not a FOSS license. It cannot be included in Fedora.

Please use the instructions FSL developers provide to install FSL.

Nvidia drivers

Proprietary software necessary for using Nvidia hardware.

In line with the Fedora communities foundations, NeuroFedora does not include any proprietary software.

Users may install the Nvidia drivers from the sister RPMFusion repositories.

Nvidia CUDA

The Nvidia CUDA platform.

In line with the Fedora communities foundations, NeuroFedora does not include any proprietary software.

Users may install the CUDA from the official Nvidia repositories as documented here.
