What is Fedocal?
Fedocal is the community calendar used by the Fedora community. It houses the various events, meetings, and important dates for the wider community.
Fedocal has multiple calendars for different teams and purposes, for example:
-
Calendar for Fedora Release Updates: https://calendar.fedoraproject.org/Fedora%20release/
-
CommOps Team Calendar: https://calendar.fedoraproject.org/commops/
-
Fedora Infra Calendar: https://calendar.fedoraproject.org/infrastructure/
To see any calendar in Fedora, visit the Fedocal homepage at: https://calendar.fedoraproject.org/
What events should be in Fedocal?
Anything to do with Fedora can be added to Fedocal!
-
Ongoing working meetings or workshops
-
Events where Fedora has a presence
-
Hackathons or get togethers with regional / local teams
Fedocal is for all of the Fedora community and has many differnet meetings.
FOSS / Open Source Events in Fedocal
We also recommend community members use the Events calendar in Fedocal to announce events they’re aware of or Fedora communtiy may have a presence at. We have a dedicated calendar called Events available at: https://calendar.fedoraproject.org/Events/
Contributing your event to Fedocal helps the community in many ways:
-
Visibility: Other Fedora contributors and users can discover local or virtual OSS events in their areas.
-
Collaboration: More local face to face with collaborators can help you get new ideas or learn more about Fedora, our upstreams and/or downstream communities.
-
Promotion: Fedora Marketing or Community Ops can feature events more easily if they are in Fedocal.
We especially encourage FOSS events that:
-
Are Open Source / Free Software in nature (easy rule of thumb is if an event aligns with our Four Foundations)
-
Involve Fedora community presence (speaking, booth, workshop, participation)
-
Are accessible (time zones, language, free or low registration)
If you’re organizing, hosting, or simply aware of such events please consider adding them to the Events calendar in Fedocal.

How to Get an iCal Feed
If you want to view Fedora events in your own calendar app (such as Thunderbird, Google Calendar, etc), you can use the iCal export as a subscribed calendar rather than downloading the calendar.
Example Steps in Thunderbird:
-
Get the iCal URL by replacing your calendar name in this URL String https://calendar.fedoraproject.org/ical/<calendar>/ Where CommOps calendar would be https://calendar.fedoraproject.org/ical/commops/
-
Follow the directions from Mozilla Thunderbird to enter a Network Calendar with the iCal URL available here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/creating-new-calendars#w_icalendar-ics
You can get all calendars by subscribing to https://calendar.fedoraproject.org/ical however be aware this will contain a lot of events. |
