Meetings

The Fedora Design Team holds weekly meetings to discuss ongoing work, review tickets, share updates, and welcome new contributors. Meetings are open to everyone!

Schedule

Video meetings are held weekly. Check the Fedora Design Calendar for the current day, time, and meeting link. Any cancellations or schedule changes will be announced in the Matrix chat.

Audio and video are not required to join the meeting. You are welcome to use the text chat for input if that is more comfortable for you.

We use Google Gemini to take notes during meetings. A summary of the discussion is generated automatically. A team member reviews and processes the notes, then uploads them as a Markdown file to the Meeting Logs Repo.

Agenda

Meetings follow a loose structure to keep things focused while leaving room for open discussion:

  1. Intros, welcomes, hellos (~2-3 min)

  2. Team announcements and news (as needed)

  3. Gather topics — check if anyone has tickets or work they would like to share for feedback (~2-3 min)

  4. Ticket feedback & discussion (~25 min)

Social Agreement

To make sure meetings are productive and welcoming for everyone, we follow a simple social agreement:

  • Focus on listening to what others say.

  • Stay present as much as possible. Close out or silence email, chats, and other distractions during the meeting.

  • Let everyone have a chance to speak. Be aware of how much time you are talking.

  • Be mindful of the meeting schedule. Be a contributor to moving the discussion forward.

  • Use the "raise hand" function when you want to add a comment or ask a question, especially in larger group meetings.

  • Stay on mute when you are not speaking.
